Marma Chikitsa Practical Training

This customised 1-on-1 training offers you the practical knowledge and experience to confidently provide an Ayurvedic Marma Point Therapy treatment (Chikitsa). It is mainly an acupressure-style massage on a chair and massage couch. It is a sacred art form, and Steve often dedicates the treatment to Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu, the Hindu Gods with a sandalwood paste honouring on the forehead.

The training gives you plenty of practical experience with a personal adaptation of content for your needs. In addition to the Marma Point Acupressure Massage (Mardana), Pranayama (Breathwork), mantras (meditative sounds), yantras (metal plates of geometric designs), colours, sacred stones and gemstones (mani chikitsa), oleation massage and herbal tinctures may also be used during Marma Chikitsa and form part of the training. Students of my Professional Body Massage training course or Professional Indian Head Massage training course can use this customised training to add practical hours of tutored experience withhout gaining a professional qualification.

This training offers you the theory and practical knowledge and experience to treat the appropriiate 108 marma points, defined by their location, energy channel, and pnysical connection to muscle, bone, ligament or organ, and physiological system. The course includes some Ayurvedic Concepts such as the client's prakruti (dosha), chakras and nadis. Experience of an Ayurvedic Consultation, Full Body Massage, Aromatherapy, Acupressure, Shiatsu, Reflexology, Reiki, Tantra, Chakra Balancing and other Ayurvedic treatments such as Shirodhara, Kizhi, and ShiroAbhyanga (Indian Head Massage) are good pre-requisites, but not essential. The training does not include examination in anatomy and physiology, which is required for professional insurance to practice.

The warm, homely, and relaxing environment allows you to learn at your own pace and delve into areas you want to learn more about. Your tutor Steve, a fully qualified therapist, is qualified with VTCT Level 3 Indian Head Massage and Ayurvedic Massage, and Marma Point Chikitsa in Pune, Indian, following extensive experience whilst in Kerala, India, southern Sri Lanka and the Ayurveda Retreat. You receive a training booklet and certificate of completion.
